Beekeeping Taster Day 2021
From 10.00am until 3.00pm
At Brooksby Training Apiary, Rearsby
We will provide introductory lectures on bees and beekeeping and show and discuss the equipment required to get started, and how to site an apiary.
We will lend participants bee suits and gloves so they can observe the workings of a colony and see the larvae and adult bees ‘up close and personal’. Please bring wellington boots or something similar to wear for the colony inspections.
Places on the course will be limited and are on a first come, first served basis. The cost is £31.25 per adult. Children aged 8 or above are welcome provided they are accompanied by a responsible adult who must also be registered on the course. Cost for children under 16 years is £5.25. Coffee, tea, and biscuits are provided but you will need to bring a packed lunch.
While we will endeavour to give everyone the chance to see inside a bee hive and watch a colony inspection, this is entirely dependent on the weather and the hives will not be opened if it is too cold or wet. We regret that no refunds will be available in the event that we cannot open the hives. If you have a known bee sting allergy that requires you to carry an EpiPen we ask that you do not register or attend.
Our Brooksby Training Apiary is located near Rearsby.
