Nosema – The Silent Killer

01Apr2023

From 9.30am until 3pm

At Seagrave Village Hall, LE12 7LU

We are pleased to announce a one-day meeting on Nosema – The Silent Killer.

  • Bees dead in spring or late winter and you don’t know why?
  • Colonies not building up or dwindling away?
  • Something just not right but you don’t know what?

The above are just a few of the issues that Nosema Apis can cause. Furthermore, we now also have Nosema Ceranae in the UK, which is the main contributor to colony-collapse disorder in the USA.

Attendance at this one-day meeting, which includes a practical microscopy demonstration on how to test for Nosema, will give delegates a better understanding of how to help their bees cope with this perennial bee disease.

Would you like an expert opinion on your own colony? Delegates are invited to bring bees from one colony for evaluation (you will need to bring 30 dead bees, all from the one hive, in a zip-lock-style bag).

Venue: Seagrave Village Hall, LE12 7LU.

0930 for 1000 start, aiming to finish around 1500

Tea, coffee and biscuits are included in the course fee. You will need to provide your own lunch.

The following is an outline programme for the day.
