The various different strands that go to make up the craft of beekeeping are addressed by education and training.

Brooksby Apiary

Brooksby apiary is the main teaching apiary of the LRBKA and has on site workshop and lecture facilities. This is the centre of our training of new and experienced beekeepers alike with queen rearing and summer lectures from our Regional Bee Inspector and others.

Walton Apiary
We also have a new apiary at Walton in the South of Leicestershire for those that live closer to Walton than Brooksby. It is hoped to develop the facilities at Walton over the coming years and volunteer labour is sought in order to speed this process.

Winter Meetings

Winter Meetings are held each month from October to April covering a wide variety of bee related and occasionally non-bee related subjects. See Finding Us for more details.

Social Events

We try to have 2 or 3 social events in the summer involving apiary visits and our annual 'Apiary Crawl" is a firm favorite.

Rempstone Country Show

Every July we have our annual show were we meet the public and promote beekeeping and ourselves. We sometimes hold a small honey show at this event to give newcomers to the craft the chance to win prizes.

Bee Demo Tent

Our Bee Demonstration Tent is unique and the envy of many associations giving new beekeepers and children a 'real' hands on beekeeping experience in close proximity of their on-looking friends and family.

Newsletter

The Association Newsletter is produced bi-monthly and is typically formatted as three sheets of A4 covering what's happening in and around the counties related to bees.
